Tech Girl NYU is a web3 DAO birthed by graduate students. Upon Professor Marc Beckman introducing his newest course, Web3 and Marketing: The Intersection of Content and E-Commerce, his 15 students were inspired to create a DAO with a heartfelt mission. Tech Girl NYU was decentralized from incubation. Each of us NYU SPS students voted on the DAO’s business model. From there, we created a brand strategy based on the consumer experience. Our DAO sells original digital and physical, or phygital products to raise funds for women’s tech-ed scholarships.
Tech Girl NYU’s mission is to provide tech-ed scholarships to women and girls with limited to no resources to technology spaces. Although tech is a male-dominated industry, Tech Girl NYU proves that women have a passion for tech, specifically web3. Tech Girl NYU is a perfect example, as our DAO originated from 15 students, with 14 being female. While our demographics oppose the current diversity statistics in tech, we strive to build more inclusively in the metaverse and beyond. Our motto is “if we can get 1 scholarship, for 1 girl, in our first semester (or quarter), we’ve won.”

Meet the DAO members! We’re all NYU SPS students/recent graduates who knew little to nothing about web3 and the metaverse. After a dynamic semester of learning web3 essentials while creating a business as a class, we’ve each become web3 marketing specialists.
